WHO ARE WE? Well we are just beginning to discover that ourselves. My passion has been quilting for the last seven years and to see how this dream has manifested into the reality of QUILT VENTURA, is truly an exciting adventure!
As you can see by the pictures, I love BRIGHT colors, so the fabrics that I work with and offer to my customers, reflect this preference.
I was born in a pile of Fat Quarters . . .
When quilting found me several years ago, I was cross stitching in the Burbank airport when an angel disguised as a woman sat beside me and told me to take a quilting class, "Go see Linda (then Higgins) at the Quilt Emporium and she will teach you." I did and I found the light, and the dark, and the medium. Now it was legal to have a stash and I became hooked as we all are. I found my outlet for my creativity, my love and therapy, my passion and warmth.
I left Verizon after 30 years as a professional trainer thinking I would teach college courses, but the reoccurring dream of having my own quilt shop with a great classroom to teach and learn quilting led me to this beautiful town. Ventura sparkled at the end of my rainbow.
I appreciate the traditional quilts; I love the contemporary fabrics and aspire to a modern approach to quilting always open to new techniques and tools! If you like beautiful batiks, vivids and brights, delicate Oriental prints, textures, abstracts and whimsicals, come on over. I also have florals, antique calicos, vintage prints and solids. When you visit the shop, you may meet my lovely daughter, Sunny; granddaughter, Alicia; or my people-pleasing, creative assistants, Kira and Carolyn. Now, I beacon to you come to me, by the sea, stitch and drink tea, and Fondle the Fabric with me!
Always In Stitches,
